Cork’s Urban Grit

Since 2021, I’ve been roaming Cork’s streets with a camera in hand, chasing the details most people walk past without a second glance. It’s not New York—Cork is small, compact, and doesn’t try to be anything it’s not. But for its size, it’s ridiculously rich in texture, character, and a kind of urban poetry only found in forgotten corners and crumbling walls.

Walking/Shooting

I don’t know what drove me to start photographing these landscapes. Maybe it was the peeling paint, the layers of graffiti, or the quiet conversations happening between decay and resilience. Maybe I just got hooked on how a single wall can tell a story. Whatever the reason, those textures became a cornerstone of my artistic process. From Eolas to Sloppie Poes to The Backdoor, the city’s grit found its way into my work, transforming scraps of Cork into something raw and alive.

Collage is all about transformation—turning the old, overlooked, or mundane into something unexpected. For me, it just made sense to use Cork itself as both canvas and material. If you’re going to create, why not start with something personal, something that means something? That’s why I’ve always believed in making your own assets when you can. It’s not just about originality; it’s about injecting a little bit of your own story into the art.

But not everyone has the time—or the obsession—to wander around collecting fragments of their world. That’s where this free pack comes in. I’ve pulled together over 40 textures from my archive, a collection of Cork’s urban grit, ready for you to tear apart, layer, and transform. These are the cracks, the scars, and the stains of a city that wears its history on its skin.

This pack is for the artists, collagists, and designers who see beauty in the broken. The ones who want to add a little bit of Cork’s soul into their work, whether it’s a digital collage, a poster, or something that hasn’t even been dreamed up yet.
